What is Chiropractic Treatment
The spine protects all of the nerves passing to every part of the body to ensure that the body works well and is pain free. The nerves and bones must all be flexible and in line. Sometimes part of the spine can become locked or twisted.
This is something that can happen quickly (golf swing, whiplash, or an awkward movement) or slowly (posture, occupation, degeneration). Whatever the reason you will know when something is not right.
Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific adjustments, done by hand, to free the joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. These movements often cause a popping sound and may bring relief.
Treatment will always be tailored to your specific needs
According to the General Chiropractic Council, chiropractic is “a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health”.
Chiropractors (practitioners of chiropractic) use their hands to treat disorders of the bones, muscles and joints.
Chiropractors use a range of techniques, with an emphasis on manipulation of the spine. They may also offer advice on diet, exercise and lifestyle, and rehabilitation programmes that involve exercises to do in your own time.
